I just commented on the "Lukas V top 5 college choices?" thread, replying to aan idiot who stated that Lukas would never go to some crappy florida school and asked the question, "How do you train seriously in the south?"
To which I replied (out of my duties as a floridain):
Are you serious right now?! How do you train seriously in the south? Some crappy Florida school? The University of florida has landed two FL finalists, both being in the top ten mind you. Matt Mizerick and Jimmy Clack (10th and 7th respectively). Matt is in his first year at UF and Jimmy has already stated he is going there. Florida had two other runners at FL this year, Elliot Clemente finishing 25th and Ryan Pickering at either 8th or 9th. So two floridians this year in the top 10 at foot locker. Meanwhile, AJ Del Valle won...yes that means 1st place...the NXN south regional meet in 15 flat. In the last two years 5 runners have broken 15, and 2 have broken 9 in the 3200. How can you say we dont train seriously and that we have some crappy florida school. Okay maybe UF isnt in the top 5 in the nation, but they have the New-Balance 5000m outdoor champion, and the number 7 runner in the nation.
Btw, I'm a UM fan, your comment is so ridiculous that I had to defend the gators..
Do people really think that we cant produce quality runners?
as a side note: Elliot last year, as a sophomore, ran a 9:11 3200 while pickering, as a junior, busted out a 4:11 1600, Clark as a junior, ran a 9:06 3200. Two of them are now All-Americans
