Why are people so inspired by ROCKY if he's a) fictitious and b) jogging 8min/mi (which for him is like his VO2 max effort) in his movies?

He's just saving up for his kick at the end of his runs. Because that 400M finishing speed is so important for a hard punching boxer.

I forgot that Sly used to be in softcore porn.
He gives Italian American hope.
8 minute mile? watch that scene, he logs at least 25 miles based on local landmarks

25 miles at 8 min pace?
a) based on a true story; and b) he's running in chuck taylors, dude, and he covered the entire city of Philadelphia, which is a sh*thole, so give him a break on pace.

He starts his kick at the Moshulu, which according to googlemaps, he held it for about 3 miles.
How? His "kick" is only slightly faster than 8min/mile.
Seems like he was trying for a standard progression run in that first movie. Alright, maybe he picked it up too suddenly (too much Pre, not enough Viren, amirite?), but the feeling must have just grabbed him and he went with it. Besides, he was a running n00b, so let's cut the guy some slack.
8min/mi (which for him is like his VO2 max effort)
Rocky Balboa did a VO2max test? I never would have figured he was as high tech as all that, what with the raw egg drinking, the chicken chasing and the ol' punching the meat slab in the freezer schtick.
you have no soul
Cuz he is a white character in a heavyweight division that was domimnated by blacks for a long time.
Racism of the white audience. Rocky the hard working, not super talented, tough club fighter vs. a super skilled black fighter who acts like a clown.
Not that hard to figure out. Same reason Philly always had a statue of a fictonal white heavyweight, Rocky, and not one of a real heavyweight champ who made Philly his home, Joe Frazier.
Let the whining begin
Go on youtube and look up an Eddie Murphy video where he talks about Italians and Rocky. Then you will understand my son.
Was he keeping it on the 'crete?

8min/mile? Dude is sprinting.
Ok so maybe he's running his jack daniels "R"-pace on the philadelphia streets
On vo2 max, 8min/mi would be enough to train his v02 since his jack daniels vdot is probably a 45 give or take, which means an all-out mile for him would probably be around 550-615.

Rocky is so cool, he was minimalist before it became cool.
When Adrianne came home in her new Reebok Easy Tone (or god forbid Zigtech) shoes, Rocky replied "Ohh, I don't know Adrianne, my old black converse seem to work pretty well" (say it in a Rocky voice).

At 8 min pace?!? You gotta be kidding me. I just watched it over again - the dude finishes his miles in just over 2 minutes! 2 f'in minutes!!! Do you have any idea how fast that is? And that's with making pitstops along the way to do some core work and beat the hell out of some dead cows!
He's gotta be WAY under 5 seconds a mile. Something you could only do in your DREAMS!
Rocky Marciano of Brockton, MA. Brockton is known as "The Boxers" and the city of champions in honor of Rocky.
if you're a male athlete and the rocky movies don't get you inspired and wanting to go and work out...then somethings wrong with ya lol
