Are there disadvantages for a middle distance runner (focusing on the mile but occasionally running 800) living and training at around 5000-5500 feet as opposed to living and training at sea level.
I've heard people say that altitude training is only beneficial for longer based distances and that the altitude will slow fast workouts down so you will lose speed. I know in the US at least most of the people living and training at altitude are longer distance people, is this because it hurts mid distance folks?
