Avoid them whenever you can, man. They interfere with learning and memory formation. Most people have them about once a year for clinical purposes (eg surgery), but try popping a dramamine if you can't sleep instead of those really heavy sed/hyps. Better yet develop good sleep hygiene.
Have you tried vodka? I had 3 drinks last night & slept 13 hours. It puts you in a deep sleep without the full bladder.
Crazy crazy dreams though. Cobra's, back in 4th grade & failing language tests, serpents, swimming in a lake in nov., Phil Simms coming back to play in the NFL.
in addition to the bad effects listed above benzos are extremely addictive. Avoid using them at all costs.
Thanks for the thoughts guys
I don't think I'll be using them ever again -- I'm really, really out of sorts here today

How you feel "the morning after" is dose and drug dependent. If you take a high dose of a drug with a long half-life you are much more likely to feel groggy/stoned the next day than if you take a small dose of a drug with a short half-life...
I use them on occasion. Never had any side effects except for drowsiness (seriously, that is listed as a side effect when I thought it was the desired effect).
Dial back on the dosage if you feel tired the next day.
Fellow Pyscho
Benzos are a central nervous system depressant. Don't listen to idiot about using alcohol. Adding CNS depressants can stop breathing!
Benzos are used for acute alcohol withdrawal and mostly to treat anxiety such as that some get going inside a closed MRI machine.
I take Valium or Lorazopam occasionally, but infrequently to help me sleep since my schedule is so erratic.
Quarter the dose if you must take them for sleep.
they are for anxiety. Not very useful for sleep aid
Have used them. They help. At low dosages, they are not particularly addicitve.
Aspirin: have you ever used these for headaches?
The one thing you MUST remember with Benzos is that you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL WITH THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alcohol and Benzos have a synergistic effect on GABA receptors in the central nervous system. Even a small amount of alcohol with benzos aboard could kill you. You will just stop breathing in your sleep.
DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL WITH BENZOS!!!!!!!!
Don't do any drugs guys, despite whatever psychiatrists try to get you on. All you posters at letsrun are functioning fine. As for sleep, just run twice a day and avoid caffeine later in the day and that should do the trick.
