Came across these pictures of the North Face Endurance Challenge. The race is not inside the city limits, but it's close enough that any SF resident could run on these trails regularly (race starts in the Marin Headlands just over the GG Bridge). Very beautiful scenery and terrain.

i live right by the headlands and run on these trails everyday - those aren't even the best ones. Coastal, northside, troop 80, ben johnson are just unreal to run on. hundreds if not thousands of miles of trails. I travel a lot for work, grew up on the east coast, lived in europe, nothing compares to the running in marin county.... perhaps vancouver, bc... some parts of oregon. although you also get great running weather all year long in marin.

Having lived in OR and WA and my parents being in BC, I would say the marin headlands are the best, easily accessed from a major city, running in the usa.

oh lol. have you run the whole thing? dead flat and dead straight. the most boring trail in america. i ran the whole thing in a few days a couple years back. i will never set foot on that path again.

Looks beautiful but it doesn't look like you can actually train there. The terrain would slow you down more than your physiology...
Greatfor those 10 minute milers and their fuelbelts on a 45 min run. Don't forget your camelback!
