Do I have a chance at collecting unemployment???

I would go to the office and sit there, explaining the situation, that everyone has done nothing other than procrastinate.

Somebody will decide that day, then you'll know. As it is, you are just losing pay, and not getting unemployment.

I have not tried to sit in the office yet. I will try that because I have 22 hours vacation coming to me. Yesterday I got through to the district managers secretary. She said she is unsure of my status, but I'm still in the system. I said you have to tell me if I'm terminated because I am not quitting. Again she made another promise that she'd talk to the district manager and call me back. So I applied for unemployment online today. At the end of the process it says I will be contacted to set up a interview at my local office. I'll keep you posted as to what happens. Sucks because I cut back to part-time this semester to work full-time trying save money. I've worked there since I was 16. I've been looking for any type of work and even applied at at temp service. There's nothing out there right now.

Google "free legal services" and "unemployment" to find legal help in your area. There is a lot of help for unemployed people these days.

Sounds to me like you're not being treated right. Your friend's mother may be a "manager," but unless she is the owner of the company, you have recourse. You may want to send a very polite and properly-spelled, etc. letter to her boss, if you know who it is, and/or corporate management of the company.

You say the person whose house was TP'd is a "friend." Why not also talk to him? Or let his mother know, through him, that if she doesn't get back to you pronto, she will be feeling the heat from above.

Managers, unless they are really dumb - which this woman sounds like she might be - don't want unnecessary hassle.

All this is assuming that you were a good employee in good standing in the first place.

Had a phone interview with unemployment. I was honest and told the whole story. They told me they would run it through. The guy I talked to said he's dealt with similar cases. If the company worked for states dismissed for misconduct, I participated in criminal damage to a managers personal property and a police report was filed I will be denied with no recourse. If no police report was made I would still be denied, but I would have a very good chance of winning an appeal. If the company dismissed me for misconduct based on harrasment I will be denied, but also have a good chance at winning an appeal. I was never contacted by the police, but I understand that doesn't mean a police weren't called.
