The Collegiate Indoor Games was an existing meet hosted by Northeastern which became sponsored by the Boston Indoor Games to allow for more college runners to participate in the television meet. The B.I.G. did not have enough events for collegiates to use performances as NCAA qualifiers. When they took over the "Husky Invitational", the B.I.G. technically had a full slate of events, so those college athletes who competed at the B.I.G. could use their performances. However, it has always been a scoring meet, restricted to collegiate teams, not allowing any unattacheds.
