I would suggest taking unofficial visits to about 5 schools, then decide what you want to do based on what you see on those visits.

Don't go to a school you don't like just because they offered you a scholarship. You'll be miserable, which will probably be reflected in your running. If you transfer, you'll most likely lose some of the credits you took, so it will just end up costing the same or more in the long run. Pick a school you like, call or email the coaches and see if they'll let you walk on or try out. If they don't, then pick your second favorite school and repeat the process until you find someplace that's a good fit and that will let your run.

FYI, Division I's signing date isn't until February, so it's possible to get offered a scholarship later in the year, especially if you improve. What sometimes happens is a school will make an offer to the top people they want, then when those top athletes turn them down, they move on to the next people on their list.

First things first, are you willing to move up to the 400m? You need to come to grips with the fact that you may be a 200/400 guy, and there is no shame in that! FYI, it is widely accepted that a 200/400 man is more valuable than a 100/200 runner because they have more versatility.

If a Division 1 coach hasn't contacted you yet, there's a very small chance of you getting any athletic money. But since you are a sprinter though, it might be different.

thanks all for the response! interesting enuf to say that right after i posted this thread, i had 2 D1 coaches contact me and 1 who is gunna offer a scholarship!
