Bump... anyone? What's the situation like there anyways? Remember seeing that they didn't even run at regions
Had a friend who was being recruited heavily by Gonzaga, only a couple years ago they had no M T&F. It's distance dominant but at least it's there now. They did have one guy un at West Regional few weeks back finished 27th, 101st in 2009. Don't know why the rest of the team didn't race it's a D1 program and they have the roster size.
Not sure if this is the case at Gonzaga, but not all programs have the budget to go to regionals when it is clear they won't qualify. I remember Eastern Washington would only send 6 guys some years. My guess is that Gonzaga chose to save money and only send the guys who were prepared to run a competitive 10k. But, I don't know for sure.
Tyson was a guy who was all about experience and exposure at Mead, taking his kids to the Pre Classic, etc. so it would be more up his alley to take the team even if they weren't going to mix it up.
Seems like a strange time to post a job? Is this a Jan. hire? Or posting early for next fall?? Female hire?
Does anyone know how much this will pay??
can't be a lot. They are a pretty poorly funded team, no scholarship money. My guess is 15-20k tops
Anyone know who some of the candidates might be? I imagine Tyson probably has a few in mind. Wonder if there will be a lot of applicants.
I think Gonzaga pays decent? Keep in mind it is a private school costing around 35,000 a year to attend...so they bring in quite a bit of money. It has to go somewhere. I would say it pays 25-35.
anyone?

That doesn't mean they spend that money on athletics, or at least not on track/XC. I haven't gotten the impression the program has been very well funded.

Private education does not pay well for the most part; this is not sound logic.

Hahahahahahahahah...hahhahaahahahahahaha.
This is comical. Maybe there has been a recent influx of cash in the program that I haven't heard about yet, but I would be shocked if the job paid more than 20,000. Until Tyson took over in 2008 there wasn't even a full time coach. I don't know why the team didn't run at regionals. I had thought that was the plan earlier on in the season. Tyson would do great things there if the A.D. would loosen the purse strings a little bit. Chris Boyle (the kid who ran at regionals) was a 9:32/4:25 guy in H.S. So Tyson has clearly done some good work there.
Gonzaga athletes personally did not save any money as they had enough members present at the regional race to compete as a full team.
I heard they hired Adam Morrison as the cross country coach.
Adam would be a nice hire...he could teach them how to shot 3 pointers.
