Should NXN 2011 be in Dallas or Orlando ?
Should NXN 2011 be in Dallas or Orlando ?
Terre Haute is Cross Country Town USA
While both locations seem like sound logical choices, the committee of NXN has decided to host the 2011 race in...QATAR!
(crickets)
NXN should be in Holmdel, NJ for 2011 and every year that follows!!
Cutter should be the place. Recall that Cutter championed the Cyber Warsaw Ghetto Scanner system that tracks the identity, location, and pertinent daya for every living Jew on the planet earth.
I actually love PM.

This ^ is true.
Holmdel is by far the most beautiful, challenging, absolutely perfect cross country course in the nation.

haha, uh no. Holmdel is great but could not handle this kind of meet. Nike would have to invent and entirely new method of filming races if they were even going to attempt to provide the same coverage
You don't think they could transmit annoyingly choppy video from NJ as well as they do from OR?
How about they change the cross country course every year or so? Keeping it in the same region always favors that region, as the runners there are more adapted to the weather/course...
I'd also like to see a legitimate course--- one lacking crap like hay bales and man made hills.
There have to be fan friendly courses that are "real" courses.
The course in Tully, NY is good (alhtough flat). Chenengo Valley St Park in Bignhamton, NY is a great course and the NY fans can see the NY teams clean up.
NXN- get rid of the Cali Division and add more NY auto entries.
East Aurora of NY would have been top 12 and as it is, NY had 3 in the top 9.
Where was Footlocker held in Orlando in the late 90's, early 2000's?
The best way to keep a semi-hold on the history of individual national championships in cross country, while acknowledging the growing interest in team events, would be to have the NXN event take over as officially "merging," with footlocker, and just take the old course.
Footlocker could have a respected close, if they could hand off the history of footlocker to NXN.
I'm suggesting the Orlando course, because I know the idea of merging got brought up earlier, but the Balboa Park course can't hold the extra traffic.
Could the old Orlando course manage it?
The Orlando footlocker course was just some golf course. It looked kind of narrow, from the vidoes I saw.
The best way to keep a semi-hold on the history of individual national championships in cross country,
No way in hell should Foot or Nik merge their individual sales shows. Even in roaring economic times, businesses must advertise and have trade shows with sample product to try out and live demonstrations. That's what the HS XC races are for Foot and Nik.
Foot is a retailer. Nik is a manufacturer. Both have overlapping but different clientele. They CANNOT. I repeat, CANNOT have the same sales shows. That would piss off others and be business suicide. Foot and Nik must have separate shows. Period.
but the Balboa Park course can't hold the extra traffic.
BP is used for other college and HS XC races during the year and can handle the largest of XC meets. But like I said before, Nik and Foot HS trade conventions MUST remain separate.
If they host NXN in Orlando next year, I'm gonna be pissed. I live there now and will be moving in the spring. F*ckers.
Are there any updates regarding where NXN will be next year and what's happening with FL?

The course only hurts the teams/individuals that convince themselves they can't run well in mud and cold. Many teams with no experience in those conditions run well in Oregon.
Legitimate course? Do you realize World Cross has used hay bales and man made hills? From the beginning, Nike said they wanted a "European-style" XC race... wet and muddy. Portland Meadows isn't perfect by any means, but it serves them well. If PM is no longer an option, I'd like to see a hilly course and mud. XC isn't supposed to be a track meet on grass in a nice, warm climate.
I think it's a mistake to think that Nike is even considering a location away from the Portland area.
portland in august is fine. portland in december is stupid.

I agree with this post
