PLEASE HELP- college question

You have a pretty decent 5K time, but your track times wouldn't make it out of the district meets in Oregon, let alone place at the state meet (6A-5A). Since you have your junior track season remaining before recruiting begins, you may be able to improve enough to get close.

Typical recruits for Oregon that actually get to compete for the U of O (not just run at practice) are quite a bit faster. Good times to shoot for would be something like 1:52 for 800 (remember Greer ran 1:47+ as a junior in hs), 3:52-54 for 1500 (that's the collegiate distance and also what preps run in Oregon) and 8:45 or better for 3000. Those times would get you a good look.

He means this year because by the end of your senior year recruiting will be done.

Another option is to go to a jr. college or for 2 years drop some times then transfer.

But honestly... you're going to have more fun at a program that is right for you. If you're not really good enough to run with the guys at O but you get on the team anyway, it might not be a lot of fun.

Keep chasing your dream kid. If there's one X-factor in this sport, it's heart. It can't be measured, but it sure as hell can help drop those times. Keep at it. Hopefully we'll hear about you some day running as a Duck. Best of luck.
