Does anyone know who is or is thinking about going to Wisconsin next year? Wisconsin REALLY needs to try to land allie woodland as wisconsin women are way down right now. The men need some fresh legs too as they only landed alex hatz who is more of a mid distance guy last year.
I have been wondering about this myself. The deream kid would be Lucas Verzbicas. There is some in state talent-Sam Hacker, Dan Schubert, Josiah Swanson, and Joshua Mirth. The men definitely need to work on depth.

"Over the weekend I went up to Madison, Wisconsin to watch the Adidas Classic. Unfortunately I missed the race by about five minutes, which is kind of a bummer but in the end it all worked out. I met up with Matt Jablonski who was my roommate at the Nike Elite Camp. He just so happened to be on an official at Wisconsin, so he introduced me to some of the guys including Alex Hatz and Zach Mellon. Alex and Ryan Craven (Wisconsin’s Assistant Coach) showed Matt and I around the town for a little bit, needless to say Madison is awesome and seeing Camp Randall for the first time was one of the coolest moments in my life."
I have not heard anything definite about Wisconsin recruits, but this could be a possibility.
It would be huge for Wisconsin to land Driggs and Jablonski as Wisconsin is good in the middle distances but they need some more long distance guys for XC. Schubert would be a good in state pickup. Mirth has huge potential as he is home schooled and ran 15:35 at parkside.

I wonder how many roster spots are allowed by the Athletic Department. I thought their roster was really thin this year. Byrne will need at last one or two guys to contribute immediately.

They have alot more waiting in the wings than you're giving them credit for. Not that they dont want somebody to contribute immediatly(as everybody could use that), but Wisonsin will be a better team next year without any additions to the team. still would love to see some great recruits coming in though. The graduate only Peacock on the whole roster and their depthfrom 6-12 is very impressive and primarily redshirt/true freshman
Wisconsin does not just plan to qualify for nationals, they plan on winning it each year. Brill, Shields, and Bearman are long term guys who will help they qualify for nationals, but won't help them win nationals. They need another Ahmed or Peacock who can step in and become an all american by the time they are sophmores. I do believe Hatz will be a beast for them though. I just don't see too many recruits out there this year who can step in like Ahmed did last year. Other than the Rosa's, Lutz, Gedyon, or Willis, I just don't see any other kid in the country who can step in immediatly for anyone. BUT, we shall see after footlocker and after the track season. The badgers are young and can compete for top 4 for the next 2 or 3 years for sure as of right now.

I agree, they have some good depth with who they redshirted, probably know more when they run unattached in track this spring.
Schubert is a great talent, I don't think he's been overworked as previously thought, just didn't have anyone to push him.
I don't understand why more guys like Wardall don't stay in state. Are they not offered any money?

what i dont get is why they dont land in state guys, like schubert (they barely have talked to him i know for a fact) they could get some more in state talent but always act like theyre too good for them...for example, marcus paulson, d1state champ xc and ran a good time, 412 kid or john luterbach 913 415 guy (both of them ended up at minnesota)...they dont even talk to them...if u ask me these guys have tons of potential

I can assure you Wisconsin does not think they are too good for any in state runner. It comes down to scholarship money and a walk on at Wisconsin is probably gonna get a full scholarship to Marquette or around 50% to a school like Minnesota.
Every school wants to get the recruits that are gonna be all american their freshman year, but there are only a couple of those a year. Wisconsin will still be good with whoever goes there because they have the traditional and a system that works.

Marquette has very limited scholarship money and they don't give out full ride scholarships. UW-Milwaukee is more likely to give a larger scholarship because they have tuition waivers that they are able to give out. Parkside also has more money to give out than Marquette.
