My bad--looks like they broke Mead's record earlier in the year. Still broke their own course record by almost a minute, which almost makes it more impressive.

As discussed in previous threads, the course is faster now (last eight years or so). Nonetheless, props to Arcadia for leaving little doubt.

Best high school team ever and thet usually have up to 5 asians in their top 7.

As somebody who has been running the course since 1996 and has helped set up the course for the State Meet the past 10 years or so, I can say with absolute certainty that there has been only one change made (about 8 years ago as somebody else stated) that would add about 5 seconds to a runners time. The change was made for safety reasons as the size of the races got a little bigger to have a softer turn at about 600 meters into the course.

no, its the "erosion" effect or whatever its called. (give me a break im not a scientist). overtime, hills that used to be more steeper get less steep because people run on it a lot, so it loses a lot of dirt and whatnot.

Actually I retract that post- I was thinking of Mt. SAC where apparently Mead also held the record. I dont know why they ran in Cali so much.

On this amazing day of Top 10 performances, this comment has got to be among the ten stupidest comments, evah!, on LetsRun.

Maybe in 800 or 8000 years could runners wear down the course enough to make it appreciably faster.

But to make this post twenty minutes after a post from someone who actually knows about the course... Wow, just wow.

And indeed, wow. Arcadia was amazing today, especially with the rainy conditions during their race. Five guys under 15:00, 11 under 15:15 in the Div. 1 race. Buchanan runs 9th All-Time for the course on time (78:06) and they get 5th. Yikes!

Sad to say this, but not one mention of the Cali state meet in San Francisco Chronical Sporting Green section. Not one, not even results.

In the Modesto Bee. They only had the results for top three teams and individuals in the score board section. They used to always have an article on how the local runners did. Not this year.

Please give this a break. Not even close to being a Top 10 of all time. Let us see what they will do in Portland. They will have their hands full with a few teams if you check out comparable speed rating.

Woodward course is soft and likely a bit short.

This might be a bit off topic, but did anyone catch a better view of Ryan Urie and his finishing kick? Dude looked at least 50-75 meters behind Moussa with about 200 left and closed like hell. Is he the second coming of Thom Hunt?

How much did the rain erode the hills during the race, That could have made a big difference in the course record.

Woodward exactly 5000 meters - maybe a few more - in the 90s... what changed? Also, not a real hard course but had a couple challenging spots and enough grass to slow things down. What made it faster recently. Can they wear spikes now?
