Hello, This is for Kaiserslautern, Germany area folks, I'm looking to start somewhat of a training group (English speaking as the primary language), nothing fancy just want to get together a group of folks for slogging aerobic miles a couple times a week during the freezing winter. I'm thinking since the abilities of folks will have the potential of being vastly different that longer runs will be the best; hour to two hour runs and some drills and hill sprints (I know of a perfect 200m (+/- 10m) hill just outside of Kleber) and some simple plyometrics like jump squats one a week. And maybe some 2k repeats now and again at the aerobic ceiling, but nothing anaerobic.
Perhaps if things work out well we can all race together, my German isn't good so I don't know if I could organize anything official and I'm not really into matching t-shirts. I'm thinking more along the lines of in the spring/summer we'd pick some races and just show up and run them or not.
I'm looking for folks who like to run, who are interested in improving, and interested in having a good time but not complete jacking off. I'm not so sure a complete beginner would fit in but you certainly could try it out and are welcome. I'm not looking for ultra competitive assholes, or braggy types who think they know everything, or those judgmental types who like to comment on every little thing they think would make you a better runner. I'm looking for just a all around group of happy people who aren't pissed at the world and if they have drama they leave it in their cars and put on their running hats. Again I'm looking for people who are interested in running, improving, and having a good time, but while we are running things are focused but not competitive, these are winter aerobic miles.
If there is anybody out there who is interested, post a reply or you can send me an e-mail at
and I'll come up with a good location to meet and a time that should be convenient for most and if not we can work something out.
The format I'm thinking that would be best is to meet, and then do an out and back no set courses or distances, just a predefined amount of time 60-120 minutes and we run were ever the wind blows. I'm not big on warm-ups or stuff like that, I just like to start slow and then get going. We could add 10-15 minutes onto the beginning to account for the warming up or not, would really depend on how long people want to go. And then perhaps go and have a beer or some food and shoot the shit to warm up a bit and then go our separate ways.
I do myself train twice a day am/pm, I could regiment my training times for those of you who are into that kind of thing and kind of fit it around your schedules as I don't work. I don't imagine there would be to many of those kinds of folks who would be willing to make that commute to train in the early morning but I'm just putting that out there. I normally do like 40 minutes in the morning but I could make it an hour if the extra twenty minutes will make it worth your while and you couldn't train with somebody on a normal meet-up.
Alright I think that about covers it.
Regards,
Edward Edmonds
