I have all of the 2008 Olympic finals, but they are very large files. The 5000 Men's Final is 2.2 gb (it's actually everything that happened that day, as covered by the BBC).
The Marathon video is the best of all time. I watch it anytime I need inspired.
Could try NBC.

There is a men's 5000 listed there, but it won't open for me for some reason. I'm not sure if it is the whole race or part of it.
oh man, what format are the videos in?you can convert videos to a manageable file size and upload them to youtube or some other file hosting service. i'd be your best friend if you could do this!i can help you with software/how-to if i know what kinda files they are

i've gotten it to work in the past and it was only a highlight.
is there anyway to buy the videos of the races from the Olympics?
man, i'd pay for a video of the Olympic marathon. i dont think NBC is selling videos of the races though -- i could be mistaken
This has the last 3 laps of the 5000m:

I took some time and figured out how to extract video clips, and I'm uploading the M5000 final to my website. Even though the clip is 20min long, it's 221mb. Video is xvid, audio mpeg 3. Originally in an AVI container, but since I'm using a Mac, the container was converted to MOV when I extracted it.
I have no problem sharing, however I don't want to use youtube or anything, as it'll just get deleted. The IOC is very possessive of the coverage of their events.
And since my website is "myname".com, I don't want it out in the public. So...if you want the file you'll have to post your email address and I'll send you the link.
Oddly the Marathon, which of course is over 2 hours long, is a total of just 1.4gb. The issue there is that I don't have enough web space for that size file.
I will say the M5000 final is great, it had been a while since I watched it. Bekele just crushes them starting from 3k on.
I have the entire British version of the marathon. 10x better than the American version. No commercial breaks, knowledgeable announcing, 5k splits, etc. I got mine from a torrent, search online for torrents of the Olympic marathon.

Same here
There is a God! Thank you!you know you can upload to a filehosting service like mediafire.com megaupload.com or sendspace.com if you dont want your website to suck up too much bandwidth
man i didn't even bother checking torrents since i figured the possibility was too slim. now that i see it's definitely out there i know how to get it for sure. thanks

I'll have to look for that marathon torrent, or if anyone wants to email a download link to any of those races, I'd love em. stupidfakeaccount at gmail dot com. Yes, that's a real email.
I emailed you a link to the 5000.
Thanks! I'll download that and search for the torrents when I get home.
could you email me the 5000 too?
For those looking for the mens marathon torrent, use these two torrents:
http://isohunt.com/download/93497989/beijing+marathon.torrent
http://isohunt.com/download/93497981/beijing+marathon.torrent
The marathon is split in two sections. I'm currently seeding them along with one other person right now. The files are too big to be uploaded anywhere with decent/respectable download speeds, so grab them here.
Again, the commentating is great and the race is just amazing to watch. I wish someone taped Gebrselassie's world record marathon, it's so rare to have access to an entire marathon. I was pissed off when NBC took down the 2008 Olympic Trials marathon from their site; I couldn't find a way to download it to my computer.
i didn't get an email.
yo, can you fwd me the download link?

vdawg, did you see my post? I'm currently seeding the marathon.
