I also have a total avulsion of my left hamstring- doing a hop-dock (water skiing) on July 4th. Oops. Guess I hopped a little too soon.I went to the urgent care because I was on vacation and ended up with 4 weeks of PT but when I came home the leg still wasn't allowing me to run. I finally went for an MRI and now I have surgery scheduled for Thanksgiving week. I am a teacher and have the week off and am planning on the two weeks following. I am hoping to be back in the classroom on cruches before Christmas. All I really want to do is run. I am actually jealous when I see runners out sweating miles from anywhere. Luckily, I ran 7 miles the day I hurt myself (July 4). Lets hope this is successful. I really want to be my old self. (45).

Hi jody, I know this is an old post but am wondering how you made out with your injury. I had surgery 8 days ago for total avulsion right hamstring, wearing brace. Did mine sprinting in soft sand - don't reccommend that! I'd love to hear from you or anyone else who is at any stage of this process. I live I nj and had the surgery in phila.
