Pretty crazy run indeed!
OK. This guy needs to pick a better race to join.
Hard to complain that you didn't run fast because you were not in a fast heat when someone does something like this.
why was menjo doing this low key 5k yesterday, when there is a much more prestigious track 5k in zurich today?

He may not have gotten an invite. His PR before this race was "only" 13:00 and, if you're a Kenyan, that might not be enough nowadays.
This is a good post and one to which I have the following thought out response, "SUCK IT Menjo!!!!"
Need I say more?

This is strange. This guy should either be able to run 12:40low or will end up with a lifetime best of 12:5X. Kenyans are strange with PB's.
Running 12:55 to win by 47 seconds? Dude's a legend, he's on some Jason Rexing shit. I've never seen the guy race before but I'm a fan now.
Menjo's fan's don't appear to be making excuses regarding having NO rabbits. Menjo knows how to grab a race by the balls.
Josephat, you appear to be a man among menjos...

His greatest race ever, or just the beginning?
only 5s faster than moorcroft 30 years ago. So what?

Well the guy turns 31 tomorrow- maybe he moves up to the 10,000.
all depends on
- weather : moorcroft had great conditions, we don't know about the kenyan
- the relative pacing : i remember moorcroft split 7'50, which was good as it implied 13'03, we don't know kenyan's split
anyhows, a wabbit to 3k for either can offer 1s/lap, so this kenyan is theoretically a 12'47 guy currently without taking into account above 2 caveats
he has one of the top 10k road times ever 27:04, only 2-3 seconds off the world record.
interestingly his track and road 10k personal best are the same 27:04
tilastopaja.org has his 3k split yesterday at 7:42.6
2 seconds quicker than at 3k in Zurich
2 of the runners in the race were lapped twice...during a 5km. Sounds fun.
Who coaches this guy? Agent? Training locale?
Iaaf article (bit old but pretty nice): http://www.iaaf.org/news/athletes/newsid=46167.html
How is this not bigger news?
A guy soloing 12:55 like that is absolutely ridiculous.
