Some of the reviews on amazon are pretty contradictory. I was hoping to get some reviews from the letsrun crowd. Thanks!!

I have friends who use them and are constantly calibrating them. Buy a Garmin, use the America's Running Route thing on USATF, or use your bike odometer ahead of time.
You can always simply run for Time rather than Distance. This also takes the pressure off having to mentally run a certain pace/mile rather than just enjoying yourself.
Thanks for sharing your advice! I bought it yesterday, but I think I will be returning it.
Don't waste your money. If you stride length changes then it gets thrown off. Its a joke.
I found the online map your own routes to be .05 or more off per mile. Any one else think so.
I usually run for time then estimate pace. This last year I'd stepped up my training and was looking for something that would give me a better gauge of real-time pace for tempo runs and for better measurement of runs greater than 12mi. I didn't want a computer strapped to my wrist so I went w/ Nike+ , but the results are all over the place. Snow and dampness put my chip on the blinkers for a bit, and the calibration is fussy after every couple of weeks. It's way more of a pain for me than just cranking laps on the local track so I often don't bother using it.
i like it, it isnt the most precise instrument in the world but its good enough for me. terrain and stride length dont really affect its results with me either, but i guess im just lucky
