When I was in my teens I could drink a Pepsi and go straight to sleep dead to the world for 8-9 hours. I got married in my early 20s and still had no trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. In my 30s I started waking up a few times in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or for no apparent reason. Now I am 38 I can still fall asleep fairly easily but I still wake up 2-3 times per night for no apparent reason. I schedule 8 hours in bed but it doesn't seem to be enough.
I definitely have more stress in my life now with a wife and kids, demanding job, bills, and other commitments but I don't know if that is causing my problem. I can't even nap on the weekends like I used to. I'm not a heavy caffeine user or boozer so I don't think it is chemical related. Is this lack of sleep something that just happens as you get older?
