saucony kinvara(spelling)?
I'm a big fan of the Adizero Mana
I just got the asics hyperspeend and I love them. I understand how you feel about heel support and I think they have a good combination heel, midfoot, forefoot support/ balance.
I've run in the asics speedstar, mizuno precision, saucony grid a3 (not the new A4 yet), lunar trainer and racers, and even the saucony fastwitch grid. These are my favorite so far. Good luck.
I was running in the Hyperspeeds for awhile but felt I needed a bit more. Asics speedstars are treating me well so far.
Anyone run in both the speedstar and kinvara? How do they compare?
My three current shoes are the Brooks ST Racer, Nike Skylon, and Pearl Izumi Streak. I like the Streaks best, though the other two have their uses. The ST Racers are a bit softer, with a little posting; I use them for long runs. The Skylons are firmer, yet still cushioned. The discontinuation of the Skylons led me to the Streaks.
The skylons were the best running shoe I have ever owned. Nike is an idiot for discontinuing the shoe...
I second the ST racer. Great training shoe for me.
I have about 250 miles on my first pair of Kinvara's. They are definitely light and for the most part feel good. At first I had a problem with them rubbing the outside of my little toe a bit. I don't have wide feet but they did feel a bit snug there at first. They are better now. Oddly, they seemed to need a little breaking in which I never had to do with Precisions, DS Trainers, or the Brooks Launch. Even though I run on my forefoot, they seemed to be hitting the ground flat. Overall, a pretty good shoe but when I get my next pair of shoes, I'm going back to the Brooks Launch.
I would say that the Nike Pegasus is the best shoe year in and year out. They are really desinged for running unlike many shoes that claim to be running shoes but are really just for looks ie the Shox. Plus they are one of nike's cheap shoes usually about 85 dollars or so. They do have off years (ie the debalce of 2002) but over all they are the gold standard for dependable trainers that will let you pound out the miles.
He said "lightweight".
There is nothing whatsoever lightweight about the Pegasus
Kinirvana? Really? I haven't owned a pair, but I tried them on and jogged a bit in them, and they felt super pillowy, and not particularly lightweight. I've been running in hyperspeeds, and those have treated me pretty well expect I wore through the soles very quickly. The outsole is made of a very foamy rubber, and after about 5 weeks (maybe 350 miles, mostly on trails) I was running on straight midsole on the outside ball of the foot. The shoe that I've had the most success with is the mizuno ronin (I had the previous version) with the excess foam cut off of the heel. Comfortable, light, low to the ground, and a wide toebox.
These are made specifically for fore/midfoot strikers. I have a pair. Couldn't be happier.

snug? really? I feel like there's way too much room in the toe box, and anyone I've ever talked to said the same thing. Besides that, they've been wonderful. I'm on my 4th pair right now. Shoe changed my life.
