If Wheating dropped a 3:35/3:34 (3:53/3:52)which would be huge for him, he would still be almost 5 seconds back at the end of the field. How can you say such a guy deserves to be in this field. Wheating ran 3:37 twice this season, once very early and winning by a large margin and the 2nd by just running thru regionals and cruising in, again by a large margin win.

In case you just woke up to running, comparing Wheatings lifetime bests at 1500 with guys who race meets like the diamond league circuit is pretty much worthless.
Ulrey has run 3:35 in Europe and Wheating rolled him up with ease on the DMR mile indoors.
