10k 33:30 ~ I ran that 10k a day after a hard 400/800 workout.
The Half Marathon ~ 1:16, it's something I have to work on as a master runner. I only have about ten weeks to train for this race. The next week, it's back to training for track.
My goal is to help develop as many runners from high school to master on the track and the road. I am also training for some fast times in the 400, 800, 1500, mile, 3000, and 5000 in 2011.
Last year I ran a (3:08.1) 1200 and came back with a 1:57.4)800 win. I think I could have run 1:53 that day if I didn't run that 1200. I ran a (50.9) three weeks before that race at the end of a 5000 workout.
This year I never got serious about racing after Feb and the year just went by. I only ran one race in Feb, a 600 at a college all comers. I went looking for a fast race, but the kids weren't looking to run hard that day.
So, I rabbit the first 400 meters in (51.6) and call it a day. I think speed and speed endurance is the key for masters runners as you get older.
Bulldog35, the first thing you need to do is drop the weight. I think you can run uner 2 minutes in the 800 easy after that.
