I will be entering college next year and I was curious what other 1500/mile runners do for weekly mileage and how their mileage progresses throughout their college careers.

I ran 4:12 indoors this year as a freshman before getting injured outdoors. I ran about 40 mpw.
I ran 4:03 indoors in the mile and 3:45 outdoors in the 1500 meters during college. I ran about 30-40 per week from January to June and about 60-70 from July to December. I was definitely on the low side for mileage and pushed too hard in workouts to be able to handle more mileage.
Ran a 3:59 and hit 100-110 every week except for taper.
80's runner, did you do a lot of lifting or other non running training during track. That seems like so little compared to your fall/summer.

I was befuddled at first as well. But then I started reflecting on the middle distance runners I knew when I was matriculating. The mileage he quotes (30-40) is probably not far from it. The middle D guys never ran in the morning and rarely on Sat or Sun unless there was a Sat meet. Most of their work was on the track with rare exception. Pales in comparison to what the 5K/10K guys were doing.
This could easily be a 800/1500 guy's week:
Mon - 8 miles total; tempo run or long intervals, like repeat miles
Tue - off
Wed - 8 miles total; short reps like repeat 400's
Thu - 8 miles med-long run
Fri - pre-race day - 5 easy + strides
Sat - race day; 6 miles total on the day with warmup, cooldown, race
Sun - 11 mile long run
That's 43 miles.

I always figured I had 6 months of at least somewhat higher mileage when I was training for 10k cross country, so once track came around, I upped the intensity quite a bit, lifted more weights and rarely worried about my mileage. I could run a 10k well in cross country, but in track I never even ran a decent 5k due to the low mileage. If I had to do it over again, I would change things up quite a bit, but I did have some decent success with the low mileage and high intensity. I wasn't consistent and I never peaked in track for the end of the season.
70-85 all year
1500 guy, but I do the 800 and 5k as well
im a soph, last year I was doing 60's
