Will be hard for Grey to get 2nd since he didn't qualify.
Everyone is picking Phoebe Wright to win the 800.[/quote]
That's because she's on another level as far as NCAA 800 runners go. Her worst competition was at SEC's and the East Region. No offense to the West, ya'll have some great 800 women's runners ( and of course a deeper set of men and women in other events) but ya'll just don't run the 800 on the women's side like they do over here :)
I don't understand why people are saying Chelagna will be tired for the 5,000. He could pretty much jog the 10,000 and win, and gets a full day of rest between that and the 5,000. The 10,000 will just be a nice tempo for him, I'm guessing something like mid 28's with a really fast last mile, or he'll blow the race open early on or in the middle and just jog in. He rests a day, and comes back and runs a sub 13:20 ftw. And isn't Centro doubling in the 15 and the 5? those finals area both on saturday.
The Wright - Thomas rivalry has not disappointed these past couple of years. Should be entertaining once again.

No Centro's just 1500.
McNamera and Maag are the Oregon guys in the 5k.
Thing about Chelenga is will injury play a factor? Remember how he was dealing some sort of injury (clarify me on this because I forgot what was bothering him), doing a 10k/5k double is no walk in the part no matter if you’re an elite runner or a casual jogger. I believe he can win (probably will blow out) the 10k, but the 5k may be a different story. With David McNeill in the race (and I believe fresh), Chelenga will have his hand full. Maybe Chris Derrick could get back into his 13:20s form for this race, but who knows.
On the women's side:
800: Phoebe "the terminator" Wright-unbeatable
1500-Charlotte Browning vs Sheila Reid. Brenda Martinez should be in the mix as well.
5K-Bizarri versus Koll- could be the best race on the board. Bizarri will have to approach or surpass her PR to get by Koll, who has the superior PR.
Steeple: Franek. The Colorado ladies should perform well.
10K: Koll all the way
The newly upgraded University of Northern Iowa T&F program will take a goose egg of "O" for the meet.
Congrats..

Why are people picking guys that didn't even qualify for nationals??? Colby Lowe didn't make it. He was 18th at regionals. Someone else had Puskedra in their top three in the 5k. He was 31st at regionals
Uhl? Seriously?

Uhl see.
My mistake as I thought Puskedra just got in but that was in the 10k. So switch Chris Derrick to 5000 for 3rd and put Puskedra in the 10k for 3rd.
So Koll does not figure in your 5000 calculus - is that because she will be so far ahead that they will have mis-counted her laps and think she has 250 to go when your trio gets there? I think that Iowa State is looking to see how well they can do team-wise. Thus, Koll will not run the 10,000 that fast, and then she will have about 48 hours to recover before the 5000.I thought that McNeil was in the 5000 as well, where he is probably better. Of course, your picks are optimistic for the chances for the Duck, so I will not counter that.

I agree with this, I think Sam gets better relative to the NCAA at 10K and up. What I mean is that is where he really starts to distance himself.
At 5K I think in a perfect euro style race he's a candidate for sub 13:10 but I also think that Derrick, McNeil and possibly Bethke are in the 13:15-13:20 range.
Sam will be coming back off of 10K and I don't think it'll be a walk in the park for him. He doesn't run very comfortably from the front and he's not going to want it to come down to the last couple laps like Rupp could afford. He should win the 10 handily, but he'll use some reserves doing so.
Coming back in the 5K he either sits and waits or leads hard. I think McNeil will cover any move he makes as well he should. Even if Sam leads at 13:15 pace he won't be able to maintain it and if he waits till the end it's open to McNeil, Bethke and Derrick. If it doddles at 13:40 pace you bring other characters into the mix. Not sure where McNamara is at now but his 7:53 season opener in the 3K and his 3:40 speed could make him a contender (an the home field fans) if it is anywhere around 13:40 pace.
The 25 year old 13:19i/27:08 junior will likely only have one NCAA title as this year closes.
off topic, is there a live stream anywhere? thanks in advance
I would bet good money you're Canadian.
The Wright-Thomas rivalry can't really exist if Wright always wins. It won't be that entertaining.
