Pretty cool. Clearly the days before contact lenses.

some great footage I've never seen before of Cusack, Fleming and Drayton amongst others.
Boston Billy was in there and Tom Derderian.
26.2 in SWEATPANTS. Love it!
Billy ran 2:19:34 for 14th place and I ran 2:25:23 for 30th place.
Do I look more like an Emam or a Rabbi?
Tom
And I ran 2:53:51 for 414th place.
I see Tom Derdeirian in one of those shots.
The Wolfman as a youth.
(LOL)
An Imman definitely, it's all the rage right now
Horrible quicktime format- literally the size of a postage stamp. I think one of the runners wore a white shirt.
In the 12 years since I first ran the Boston Marathon in 1962, the race grew from 181 male only starters to over 1266 male runners under 3:25 plus 30 women under 3:59.
Neil Cusack, the '72 NCAA Cross Champ came back 6 days after his Boston win to run the 6 mile at the Drake Relays. Don't recall how he did.
Yeah, but they were 1266 hairy freaks and weirdos!

Only a couple of the men were. The women weren't.
The track runners were beginning to turn to the marathon for fun.
Orville,
I saw myself at 10:25. Portia and I got a kick out of the movie. Hope you are doing well.

Hey Ghost of Igloi,
It is good to hear from you.
You ran a good one that year! US top ten and ahead of B. Rodgers.
My memory is that you were cold and wet and couldn't find your family after the race so you showered in my room after I finally finished.
Have you been racing lately?
Orville
Orville,
Actually I was 13th in 2:19:15, my PR. I did take a good soak in your hotel tub; it felt good after the down hill run into Boston. Yes, I have been doing a few Winter races. Hurt my achilles back in August so taking my time to recover. Take care.

Did you see that blackguy at 11:45? LOL...
I wish men still looked like that.
Yes, I am a young woman.
That's really cool that you had that exchange nearly 35 years later.
