He jacks off all day, how the f*** do you think he trains?
The rumor is - he trashes Teg in all workouts!!!!!!!
I think he does 10-12 mile tempos and runs about 110 or more a week during base(based off of his Wisconsin training plus adding a little more). If he is with Salazar for his interval work, he is probably running 1200-1600 repeats with a couple minutes rest (based on Goucher's workouts).
oh and he run most of his training runs at like 5:30-5:40 pace.
Schumacher's and Salazar's groups do not mix. At all.
He told us during this interview
http://www.letsrun.com/2010/solinskyrecap0504.php
"6. On his favorite track workout: It actually is not a track workout at all. I feel the best afterward and gain the most confidence after a tempo effort, whether it be a 4-10 mile tempo run or an 18-mile threshold run, I just love getting out there and pushing my body at it's limit. Track work beats me up, but if I had to choose I would say mile repeats is my favorite workout on the track.
7. On Mileage: Consistently in the range of 100-120 miles a week."
I speculate that he does some "speed workouts" like repeat miles and such. However, in this interview it seems the staple of his training consists of tempo's, marathon pace type runs, and 100+ mpw. He basically trains like what many think only marathoners should train like. However, his training seems to be really quite simple. Run 100+ mpw and run comfortably hard runs consistently. By doing this over time you will run fast for you ability level. There, you now have the secrets to success. Take them and run with them (pun intended).
In the post-payton jordan invite, he said he does most of his "easy" runs at 5:40ish pace. Though if 10k pace is 4:20/mi, easy would be that plus 1:20, so it'd be like a 31:10 guy doing 6:20s. Brisk, but not crazy fast. The Wisconsin guys all hammer their mileage (well it probably isn't hammering for beasts like them).
Here is a clip of Solinsky training in Wisconsin interspersed with clips of Rupp training in Portland. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8xHjC27YvM

Yeah. Salazar was quoted in an Oregonian article to the effect that he was truly surprised Solinsky was in the kind of shape he was in. Which I found to be interesting. If he had just known what Solinsky had said about his training in the post race interview I don't think he would have been very surprised. Apparently they are not even sharing information with each other, let alone training together.

Actually, thank you Ryan Foreman, I needed a good laugh. Very witty analogy. Although I don't think Rupp has a hot Russian girlfriend. Maybe boyfriend?

Actually, that was pretty funny. Vision Quest- what a classic!
Who cares, just another dirty athlete.
