For what it's worth, Bowerman was pretty much a Lydiard disciple.
alright kato u willing to post them up?
..bowerman was not a lydiard disciple...he liked lydiard, but any look at bowerman's training and you see hard/easy and generally lower volume....not 100 + mile weeks....

Why...do...you...write...like...this?
"For what it's worth, Bowerman was pretty much a Lydiard disciple."
-clueless. just plain clueless. why would you even say such a thing???
Because Bowerman himself said so? The quote was, "Lydiard is the true prophet. I am only the disciple."

It's funny, Bowerman was like Lydiard minus high mileage. Doesn't sound like that'd leave you with much. I read a book a while back called "The Bowerman System" which was pretty detailed.
well i just would like some schdule examples on his training if anyone has them
I had this thread saved from awhile back... hope it helps.

Hey 'it becomes clear'.
HRE is spot on! When President Kennedy gave Bill Bowerman an award for his influence on the developing running culture in America, he said, what HRE said he said, which I can repeat.
I am merely the disciple, Arthur Lydiard of New Zealand is the prophet.
Bowerman took athletes down to NZ to train and compete with the Kiwis more than once.
I have me a picture of Bill, Arthur and Nobby. Because Nobby knows as much about the Lydiard method on this planet, then I would suggest if he says, Bowerman was a Lydiard man, then the case is closed - except for the dingbats who spoil Lydiard threads for the fun of it.
So if the original poster wants to train the Bowerman way, he can! Whether it is from Bowerman's coaching legacy or Lydiards. It's all good.
Um...you may not want to click on this link, but here is a very well known story to the start of the Nike Waffle shoe that Bowerman created.
...only after he spent time running with Lydiard in New Zealand.
It's probably worth mentioning here that Nobby knew Bowerman quite well too, though not as well as he knew Lydiard. He is still in touch with Barbara from time to time.
who the hell is nobby?
