I don't own it to reference verbatim and you're allowed to go red it yourself. It's no big secret, though Patti's sycophants won't acknowledge it.

As a short sprinter 8th was as bad as it got maybe 9th on a new fangled all-weather surface you know that kind of looked like asphalt.
I remember when "220 s" had meaning.
"to day we are running the 220 out of the shoot"
relays were run from the center of the straight and even hs teams could jetpass the stick with out dropping it all that often... unlike todays very talented folks who struggle using a less demanding pass.

If it is no big secret please paraphrase to the best of your memory.
This is why so many known runners don`t post here more than a few times.
If someone brings up an issue about a runner without bringing up the issue all are disserviced.
The core issuse is not what audain said about lyons it is how you interact with you peer posters.
shit or get off the pot
You can lead an idiot to information.........Basically she said that PL was self-centered, subverting what's best for the sport for her own benefit. I don't know her, but that's what Audain said. She didn't think too highly of Fred Lebow's behavior, either. You don't have to take my word for it, go read the book.

Maybe Patti could chime in about it. She surely knows about what Audain wrote and if she's honest then she probably wouldn't mind confirming it. Not that I'm counting on that.
During most of my competing days, I averaged 40 to 75 miles a week. Why do local runners have to do 100-140 miles a week if times are slower now? Also, I think we trained far too hard when I was trying to become a National Team member.
In my opinion there is too much rudeness and crudeness among the good posts on the Letsrun messageboard. It ruins the conversation and especially the author's name would not have been tolerated 48 years ago.
I agree that it's right to call out people for their poor behavior, that's how we discourage that behavior in others. Audain did that with PL and I applaud it. Lynn Jennings has done it with Decker Slaney and I also applaud that. I'd rather uphold the ideal of not screwing others for one's self-centered gain than worry about a mere word. Seems like your priorities are out of wack if you object to a simple word yet not appalling behavior from any and all sources. But then you're probably just biased by personal relationships and not really the pious objector you'd like us all to believe you to be.

Back up what you are saying.
As in?

When I talked to guys like Bill Clark and Tom Laris I got the feeling that they really enjoyed the 1960's even though they were still competitive in the 1970's in road racing. I struggled like crazy to get up with them but they were just too good. It was from them that I learned about what it was like in the decade before I started racing seriously, but (and you will probably hate this) when I read about your training in the Runners World booklet on training I realized that there were other ways of training rather than running hard every other day.
