If Ulrey runs 3:56 on the anchor with Wheating in 10th Wheating DOES NOT run 3:53-54 to kick Ulrey down. What it came down to was Ulrey wanted to try and win as easy as possible, it cost him.

Is there a video of the race?
It was broadcast live on cbs online, they should have the video archived but I'm not sure on that

Really? Didn't ulrey run 3:54 last year when he outkicked Rupp? But Wheating can't go that fast to chase people down? I think you are really underesimating this guy.

You are clueless, Rupp KILLED Ulrey at nationals last year. Ulrey is a pussy, and has not run well in any NCAA championship race.
I will give him the US trials, but every other race he has run he has done so as a pussy.
One of the "Boys" , that is Freshman boys, true freshman boys hands Wheating his arssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Wheating you need to retire baby boy!!!!!!!!!!!!! YYESSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He probably meant an early invite DMR where Ulrey rolled up Rupp, Rupp's only loss to a collegian that season.
When it's all said and done and Wheating wins a gold medal in the 800 in 2012, and gets a bronze in the Mile, you will truly know the man beast that Wheating has become!
This will not happen. He really has improved much since his huge drop his sophomore year. I just don't see him being a great. I thought by now he would have moved much further into the 1500 and dropped at least a 3:35 and hopefully even faster, but that hasn't happened. I seriously don't ever see him medalling.
No, the MAN is Garrett Heath who ran with the best in the world and led part of the WC Final.
The "Man among boys" lost to a "boy"--just another Oregon loser.
Once again:
Oregon = 0 for the World Championships. Only one even made a final.

Coe hasn't regained his form from last year, I agree. I'd bet he thought Ulrey would pick up the pace to bury Wheating and everyone else, making it a two man race, and Coe could sit there, draft in second, and hopefully have enough at the end to beat a tired Ulrey who had to go wire-to-wire.
Had this paid off, everyone would be praising Coe. It was a good bet to take, and the only chance for a national championship. The guy went for the win, not settling to a second behind a guy as talented as Ulrey. If I were a Cal athlete, I'd be praising the guy for his guts; he was willing to make a difficult decision and go for the championship.
Coe may be a 3:56 miler but he has never been a great kicker. Look at all the championship miles/1500's he's run and show me a finish that could hope to match Ulrey or Wheating if it goes slow or even medium. He needed that to be a hard run from the start and if he did that he was basically guaranteed 3rd and probably 2nd. And anyone who has seen Coe get repeatedly outkicked would tell you that his chances of winning were dramatically reduced once he let it go slow.
