10 reasons I hate Running D1

whats wrong with wanting to the 8th guy on ateam when you could get into a worse program and be their 5th guy. What's wrong with wanting only to train with some DI studs and improve yourself rather than being concerned with national rankings, or worrying about all the other problems of making the varsity team and just trying to get better.

eh, not to be a Webb jock rider, but hes making serious cash for running...obviously didn't have to win "college" nationals to sign a big deal.

Funny list, but I hope you're still in school because these 2 indicate you have much to learn about the world.

The #1 thing I hate about D1 running is Runners with abnormally wide tongues.

I'd rather run D1, be the 8th person in, never win a race, and put up with all the bullshit than run D2 or D3. I don't run D1 for the glory - I run it to know that when I go out to compete, I am competing against the best collegiate runners out there. If they are 26, so be it. If they are flown in from Kenya and have lived at altitude all their life, so be it. I'd rather lose to the best at this level on a consistant basis, than be in a D2 or D3 school where the stiffer competition is fewer and farther between.

would you wanna run for a D1 program like UW-GB or DePaul? Sure your D1 but.... Good point about the good D3 guys being all over the place, it's hard to have all the really good D3 guys in one place (although some would argue the WIAC gets to have this every weekend)

11. Business majors - Joseph, I'd rather suck poo out of a dog's ass than live for money. I hope some day you find out that human beings existed before money did, and therefore it is possible to live without it. I assumed that runners would take time to realize that life's not all about earning money. I'm pretty happy kicking your fairy, money loving ass in the last 100 meters of a race and that doesn't take much money at all.

As a member of a bubble xc squad in college, nothing pissed me off more than teams like South Florida (South) and Missouri (Midwest) getting automatic bids to Nationals (nothing other than my squad being on the bubble to being with that is).

this is part the problem with american running. Too much arrogance from guys like these. People worry about what division they run in when they should be worrying about getting the best they can. When kenyans are young and training there asses off they dont run for any particular division...they run to be the best. And by the way your lucky your team doesnt have to face any d2 power houses like western or abiline. Because now those are teams that you would be proud to be an 8th man of.

good call. DId you know that western is leaving behind a 1358 5k runner from there top 7 for nats.

"Get Real" -- ignoring your personal attack for now, I hope don't complain about high tuition or fees, or inadequate services, or being taught by a grad TA instead of a professor, at D1 schools if you keep asking to open their piggy bank for walk-ons that have already been deemed as budget-non-essential. Even complaints about high taxes are now outside your zone of credible criticism (even private colleges get substantial federal and state assistance, which means irnocally enough I may be in a small way funding you).

Now about your ad hominem attack...Anyone who knows me other than as a name on a monitor would knows that you're 180 degrees off course about my priorities. And as for tough talk behind a fake name, well, have your fun. But if you really have something against me, we can meet up sometime -- but you'll have to come find me, I have no idea who you are, and things would not be settled by who outruns whom.
