I recall lydiard supported training in flats. I thought I once saw him in a picture holding up a pair of brooks st racing flats. Also the Lydiard Foundation approves of Newton Running shoes?
Anyone know of more shoes lydiard would've approved of?

Converse made the Lydiard Equinox back in the 80's.
The shoe was a very basic curved, slip-lasted shoe which was about halfway between a racer and a trainer.
Arthur disapproved of high tech, restrictive, protective shoes. He liked the Brooks Mach I. He told me he liked that shoe. He also liked a shoe from Mizuno, the Supersonic. On his next to last tour, sponsored by Brooks, I remember that he had his wife demonstrating hill springing and bounding while wearing a pair of Mizunos.
He approved of any relatively light, simple, shoe. It was supposed to be flexible at both the mid-foot and forefoot and preferably free of things like stabilizing bars, medial posts, etc.
Lorraine Moller had been using Newtons pretty recently as was Rod Dixon. I don't know if either of them are still in Newtons. I heard that Dixon was filing down the nubs on the bottom which seems to defeat the purpose.
why the obsession here?
