Whats a good 1k time? and how much do you believe a 1k time reflects on your mile time?

WR is about 2-10. Anything up to 2-20 is pretty handy for international standard runners. 4min/mile pace gets you about 2-26 or so (haven't worked this exactly).
You wouldn't be able to run a good mile without good ability over 1k - probably a 4min/mile would require about 2-22.

Um, my math has 4 min/mile being 2:29 per 1000m. Doesn't take much effort to use a calculator.
1000m outdoor record is 2:11.96 by Noah Ngeny in 1999, breaking the long standing 2:12 by Seb Coe.
1000m indoor record is 2:14.96 by Wilson Kipketer in 2000.
