Well, lucky you. Obviously snow bands can be very heavy in one area, and then in as little as just a few miles, tail off considerably. We had JUST moved to Maryland from Michigan, and we were told that what little snow we would get would be easily dispatched of with a broom. Ha! No way with that storm.
As the link I provided mentions, areas in and around DC received 18-36 inches of snow, and some further out lying areas received as much as 42 inches. Montgomery County was one of the hardest hit areas surrounding DC, and we got...36 inches of snow. It was crazy.
