I'm also interested in hearing some feedback.
Wore the Fast Twitch 1 back in the day and am wondering if it's worth it to switch back to Saucony.
Keep in mind the Fastwitch and the Type A3 are different shoes. The Fastwitch is a posted marathoner with a medium profile and larger heel to toe drop. The Type A is a neutral very low profile and very lightweight 5k-10k racer. Both are quite flexible and compare favorably to their respective models from other brands.
My take on the Type A3:
Fit of the Upper: Type A3 fits a bit wide for my taste. I generally measure out right between a B and a D width so the Type A3 does not fit terribly well on my foot. It doesn't come in a B for men, though. The tongue is a little short and can make fore an uncomfortable fit especially if you have to snug the laces down a lot.
Fit of the Midsole: I am not sure on the tech specs of this shoe, but I would guess that the heel height is somewhere around 18mm and the height of the forefoot is around 8mm. This gives the shoe a very low profile feel. The midsole is also extremely flexible in the midfoot and forefoot giving it a very barefoot feel.
Durability: I have actually put a few racing and some training miles on my pair and they are holding up very well. After about 150+ miles there is very little visible wear on the outsole. Though I typically prematurely wear out the medial side of forefoot in nearly every shoe, I haven't noticed it at all yet in this shoe.
