Hey Wejo here's something to consider, why is your site a piece of garbage. You're commentary is horrible, non objective and often involves politics. You take pride in picks that you get half right, that's very amateurish. You take pride in the "world famous forums" yet these forums are a joke. They are laughing stock, looked down by elite runners and consistently trashed by other publications. You have all of these annoying and worthless ads that nobody clicks on. So how about this Wejo. Instead of taking time to make posts like this. How about you spend time on making this piece of crap site better.
No disagreement with putting Shalane Flanagan first. Hope the trend of worse results throughout the year is reversed in 2010. One minor nit-pick...
"Flanagan had by far her best 5,000m performance... 14:47.62... That time stood as the 2nd-fastest run in 2009 by any non-Ethiopian/Kenyan woman, with Russian Mariya Konovalova slightly ahead at 14:42 (Cheboksary, RUS)."
I'm sure Kim Smith ran 14:39.xx indoors, so that would make Shalane 3rd-fastest non-Ethiopian/Kenyan woman in 2009.
Otherwise good... keep em coming.
Which is why, for all its flaws, T&FN kills LR.C in the credibility department and why T&FN rankings are superior.

Yet you visit this "garbage" and spend time posting on it.
Isn't commentary by definition non objective?
Ignore the haters Brojos!
Barringer ran her 15:01 at Dempsey/UW, which is in Seattle, not Spokane. Come over here and watch one of the meets and you will never get that wrong again (especially this season, with virtually every top U.S. runner living within three hours).
I would not have ranked Rhines ahead of Goucher, nor would I have ranked Begley as low as #8. Both beat Rhines at a national championship race, and in neither case was it close. Rhines ran the 5k a lot, Goucher and Begley didn't, nor did they seek a spot on the Worlds team in the 5k. These are the only conceivable reasons for not ranking them higher.
I wouldn't disagree if part of your criteria is docking athletes who are part-timers in an event, but you never said that. You build arguments from axioms, not the other way around.

Curiously, T&FN have Karen Goucher in their top 10 for the USA women's 5000 in their online rankings.
Where's Molly Huddle?
Link?
Only available to TFN subscribers. Trust me, it's there.
