quick question: what does "one-stepping" mean?

It's twice half-stepping. My son used to always half-step me when he was young and we ran together. Now when we run together and he unconsciously starts half-stepping me, I give him a hard time and he just tells me I'm getting old and slow and can't hang anymore.

It's when you do an old ragtime dance called the One Step. It's sort of like the Turkey Trot.

Here in North Carolina it is a term we use when bumped off balance, like stepping off a curb, and hopping a little repeating step on the same foot.

It means constantly running one step ahead of your running partners, regardless of the pace. Some people can't grasp the concept of sharing the pace with others and force others to run their pace by always being one step ahead.

Exactly right. We had a kid on our team we called "2 step" because he was always 2 steps ahead on easy runs.

People hate one steppers because they selfishly try and control and push the pace. The only thing worse than a one stepper is when the one stepper isn't the fastest one in the group. Then he's just being a turd.
