I don't think it would have anything to do with Footlocker. He might have a problem with his state high school federation, however. Most states have rules prohibiting representing a school "out of season", meaning anything after the state meet.

When I read the article I was shocked also. I thought competing in school uniform was a violation. I applaud his school spirit but I'm surprised his coach didn't tell him the rules.

The fact that he's 25 years old would be a violation too I think.

I suppose you guys get your panties in a bunch when members of girls relay teams aren't wearing the same color Jogbras. Please gain some reasonable perspective on what is important in high school athletics, you jealous losers.

I wore my high school uniform in the south region footlocker champs back in the day. I'm from Florida, and there was no rule against it that anyone knew of. Besides, kids from GA, NC, SC, TX, VA etc were all wearing high school uniforms that day. Who cares.

Depends on the federation. Most States rule is "you may not wear a SCHOOL ISSUED uniform".

That means that if students purchase their own uniforms and have them printed with their high school, it is NOT school issued.

There are plenty of ways around the silly school uniform rule.

Look at any set of Footlocker Regional photos and you'll see a ton of kids wearing school uniforms.

There should be a difference between SCHOOL ISSUED and stolen. Most cross country seasons end sometime in the middle of November and the uniforms have to go back. Even though the coach knew he had the uniform, I bet the school and AD would say it was not issued to be kept beyond the end of the season and should be considered stolen.

No one is jealous of the young man just surprised he ran in his school uniform. In Tx if you wear your school issued uniform it counts as one your meets and you are only allowed so many per season. I'm sure other regions or federations may have different rules.

Why would a HS kid not run in his HS uniform? Regions and Federations ... did you ever run more than three miles at a time?
