im a college distance runner who normally runs between 80 and 100mpw with one or two workouts a week, and bi or tri weekly doubles
i'm currently not competing for my team but running races unattached
ive been training this way for over 1 year
though battling injuries occasionally
last summer i was out for 2mo's w an IT band injury, but cross training, i am now running fine
my normal training pace is between 6:30 and 7min for 10 to 12 miles
my long runs are 15-18
recent workouts results:
4mile tempo on xc course-- 22:50
5x1000-- 3:07avg (90 sec rest)
4xmile-- 4:51, then 5:00's-5:11 for the next three (3min rest)
season/lifetime pr: 17:06 (road, felt great, won by a lot)
MY PROBLEM: i can relax for a mile and half during races, but then i tighten up, my arms get very close to my body and stop moving and my head tilts to the side, this seems to be my problem racing. i feel like i should be running faster than i am!!!
