NE Div III XC 2009 ~Official Thread~

This weekend certaintly spit teams across the board,but with that being said Brandeis, Williams, Keene, USM, and Amherst still all look to be nice bets for regional teams.

I was wondering more about individual qualifiers. What ringers are out there that aren't high on the "Teams" or polls radars?

USM ran incredibly well, as did Norton of Brandeis.

Don't count out Tufts either. They ran without Welch, who likely would have been around 40th-50th. That puts them right behind Brandeis and ahead of Amherst.

where was welch? And I just don't see tufts having the team this year, they are the dark horse in my opinion though.

McNamara underwent surgery 2 weeks ago to fix a torn labrum. Doubtfully returning until cross 2010.

that's too bad. Hopefully she can come back strong.

Plenty of NE teams going to Oberlin this weekend? Or is there a bigger meet more in the actual NE? Or I suppose the New England's this past weekend was a big meet, so do many teams have off?

bowdoin beats USM on a slow course at the maine state meet. williams sits out plansky while tufts and conn tempo.

I don't feel as though we will get 5 bids, are region is way to sporadic.

I feel like the only way we get 5 is if Brandeis goes to UAA and places well/wins and then comes to regionals and is 4th or 5th. Other than that no real way to judge our national standing. No big, fast races this year really so we do look a little weak. In other words, get your shit together Brandeis for those 5-13 teams. Right now there's 5 NE teams ranked, we'll see tomorrow

Any predictions for New England Conferences? New England Regionals? Will conference results help or hurt our chances of getting 5 teams to Nationals?

Don't see how we can change the strength of our region at this point. Maybe at NESCAC some people run with Kosgei, but more likely Brandeis showing up to UAA would be the only difference.

As far as regionals goes teamwise, Williams and Amherst seem to be coming up nicely. Who knows about USM, did they peak too soon?, Bowdoin has been steadily progressing, Brandeis solid, then there's the wildcards Tufts, is welch healthy, Midd, been hanging around, Wesleyan, lost to Williams and Amherst at little 3 but competitive, Keene-never know they looked good early, and maybe MIT-usually a contender so I'd throw em in

Individually there's far less dominance than in prior years but Kosgey seems to be back in 07 form when he won and challenged Kosgei a little at CACS. I'd say he takes it.

Brandeis probably doesn't need to win for this region to get 5.

UAAs will have NYU, Emory, CMU, Rochester and Wash U.

If they can beat CMU and Rochester, the NE region should get 5, as the mideast and atlantic would have a hard time justifying 5 with those losses.

While CMU has a very good shot at going to NCAA's, Rochester isnt anywhere near the elite teams in the Atlantic region. UR will be battling Case Western to stay out of the cellar at UAA meet.

Rochester is better than CMU...you heard it here first.
