People used to think running a sub 4 mile was impossible. It seems that us americans also started to believe breaking 13 in the 5k is a near impossible feat that only african runners are capable of.
Now that Ritz and Teg have done it hopefully we will start to see a ton of americans doing it.

If Rupp, German, and maybe Solinsky get under 13 (and I am assuming that German will also get under 3:50 in the mile at some point), then you'll have parity, seven U.S. under 3:50 and seven under 13. With their 3:32 and 3:33 this year, we have two more possible milers to add to the list in the next couple years in Lomong and Manzano.

Ritz will next year. It will be the start.
Not to AGAIN state the obvious, but there just aren't that many top quality 10,000s. There are guys who can break 27:00. Whether or not they will is another matter.
But you know, with no team to worry about making next year, there's no reason that the 10,000 at the 2010 USATF Championships shouldn't be a fast-paced let's-risk-it-all race.
