Would be interesting to see him do that (or try to do that), specially tonight in Zurich..

A new generation of PEDs will be required.
"before moving up"
so it sounds like he will be giving the half marathon and full 26.2 a shot in the coming years. for now he is def gonna go faster in his world records and I think next year is it
5K: 12:32.89
10K: 26:11.63
1/2: 57:55
26.2: 2:02.47

those all look a bit too ambitious except maybe the 10k. I say
12:35.3
26:13.6
58:25
2:03:38
Bekele cannot hold a candle to Geb. Come on, idiots, Geb ran second fastest ever 1500 indoors all the way up to world marathon record. Geb had El G, Komen, Tergat to deal with.
Yeah, yeah, the times are faster. But only by a few seconds.
Ever seen what a few seconds does to a 400m?
dude, if a person has faster prs than another person than that means they are faster. I'm sure bekele could beat haile and improve on his record which bekele has already done in the past.
Bekele is truly a great distance runner, but what Haile did can never be topped. He took the 10k WR down from 26:52-26:17, and the marathon record from 2:04:55-2:03:59, and the 5k record from 12:58-12:39 during the course of his career. That is just insane. His championship record is impeccable from all distances 1500 and up, and he revolutionized the sport.
Bekele's Cross-Country titles prove that he is a more complete and better runner than Geb. I don't even think it is a contest.

Does any serious student of the sport actually believe this?
These past 2 major championships have put Bekele past Haile. Haile's place in history is secure, but Bekele is a better and more accomplished runner now.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion of the GOAT, but from where I'm sitting the slight nod has to be given to Geb, at least at this point in Bekele's career.
Cross Country: no contest for Bekele, and best ever
Distance on the Track: slight edge to Bekele, and best ever
Middle Distance: huge margin to Geb (see indoor 1500m)
Long Distance on the Roads: no contest to Geb and one of the top marathoners ever
If Bekele ever does something notable in the middle or road distances, he'll have a stronger argument. If Geb beats Wanjiru for gold in London 2012, he's sealed the deal as greatest in my mind. In the meantime, I count myself lucky to witness the two greatest distance runners in history.

Definitely a huge understatement

Why is middle distance in there as well? Might as well add in sprints and the discus as well.
how about just
XC-Bekele by far
Track-Bekele by a fair amount
Roads-Geb by a lot, but Bekele has not tried road racing much yet
Geb has the #2 performance all time indoors at 1500m. Bekele has attempted a few 1500s with world class fields. Pretty good reasons to put them on the resume.

I wish Kenenisa the best, but I don't think he'll ever break the 5k record again especially not by that much. He said that the 5k WR was harder than his 10k WR. I'd be surprised if he ever breaks 12:40 again.
