Tendons dont rip away from bones.

If only one foot got busted its a Nicole Bush issue nothing else. LIsten to the numbers, one injury out of 30...look inward rather than outward!!!
This is common sense, not the Ops post.
Avulsion fracture by definition is a fracture caused by sheer forces in which the tendon or ligament rips a piece of bone away from the rest of the bone. This is due to an acute injury. This does not mean we can say for sure it was because the bar was higher, but it would not suprise me since her muscle memory is set for a particular height and she might have landed funny because of that leading to the fracture. My message is more to show that this assumption that she had this injury developing, is wrong.
they were at the wrong height it doesnt matter if that caused the break or not, the USATF should not be so stupid.
the difference in height could have made her react slightly quicker, her foot may have reacted more quickly than with the barriers she is accustomed to and her foot may have tensed up to push off earlier than it should have and that may have caused the break. i guess we'll never know the answer. just my $0.02 though.
BrokEN
And no it would not have broken.
The mistake could have caused even more severe injuries, such as runners tripping on the barrier and going head first into the partially empty pit.
The steeplechase is a dangerous event.
Certainly everyone should make sure the barriers are at the correct height and no higher.
Tendons dont attach to bone so how do they break the bone? Only pointing this out to show that no one on this board knows what they are talking about, so your opinions are truly like assholes. It was a volunteer that made the mistake, a volunteer. Why is it any different than a paid umpire making a bad call in baseball. The element of human error is a part of every sport, deal with it!

Dear god, how difficult is it to punch in a few letter on a keyboard first and check you facts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avulsion_fracturehttp://orthopedics.about.com/od/brokenbones/a/avulsion.htmFrom the Article:
An avulsion fracture is an injury to the bone in a place where a tendon or ligament attaches to the bone. When an avulsion fracture occurs, the tendon or ligament pulls off a piece of the bone.

From the first damn sentence of the Wikipedia article on Tendons:
A tendon is a tough band of fibrous connective tissue that usually connects muscle to bone and is capable of withstanding tension.
