Do you mean this (the current) Fall?
You asked about two negative options -- my comment is on the positive effect a 30-mile run can have for you.
Without getting into the LSD theories and all that stuff, a long run of 30 miles (assuming some level of decent fitness) will, generally, be beneficial. It is good for the body to experience moderate effort, long term stress so it can recover and rebuild. That is what training is for.
Now comes the question -- how soon is your marathon? How many more long runs do you have planned? And so forth and so on.
Re: "longest run you've ever ran" -- I have shirts and buckles from 100-mile trail runs. Certainly not as fast as most of you, but just as bull-headedly persistent as the sun goe down.
ran 11 laps of fresh pond at 2.5 m at 5am and then ran 5m road race at 7pm in July of 1987
Got lost on a badly planned 2 hour 30min run.
Ended up doing 4 hours 45 min aprox. Weather was hypothermic and had to keep running to stay warm.
Damn good for motivation if you want to train for ultra-distance.
I've run marathons, but the longest run I've ever done was 2:45 minutes total. I did this with my wife and probably only covered about 12 miles. Still, the amount of time on my feet seemed considerable! I recall thinking with two miles to go that the run would never end. Go figure...
As for the 30 miler, I believe it's a good thing so long as you have plenty of time to recover.

32 miles on my 32 birthday, just for the hell of it.
I once ran 200 miles to warm up for a 50k.
