Not exactly sure what you mean, Orville. As I read it, Rodgers really looked up to Amby, who was a roommate, teammate, leader, maybe even mentor for him. Amby had to convince the relatively lazy (at the time) Rodgers to get out and train, and to join him on weekly 25-milers. I don't think Amby experimented on Bill, if that's what you mean. Of course this is all based on my reading of one account from Rodgers, I'm no expert and I'm certainly too young to know anything firsthand.
I would love to hear an account from Amby, his thought process leading to his goal and strategy (in terms of training) for Boston before he won it.
