The stagger is no "so much bigger" than for an outdoor track. On an outdoor track for the 400m there is a 2 turn stagger, and the differences between the staggers of lane 1 and lane 2 is 10 meters, the same goes with lane 2 and 3, lane 4 and 5, etc...
