My personal suggestion is a long hurdles race, one hurdle on each straight away. It would be fun. What are your suggestions?

Sounds a lot like dry steeplechase. All the "different" events run indoors lack attention anyway, why add more new lame events? The 300, the 600? Come on.
they ran those in the UK in the 70s (and maybe in the US?)
steeple hurdle in the middle of each straight. Ran 2k and 3k races.
500m
600y
600m
1000y
they've all been tried...
I think it should be done like swimming
Back stroke = Running backwards
Butterfly = Skipping
Breast stroke = lunging
(ok they dont race these)
Side stroke = Slides.
Crawl = Bear Crawl
its all about the zig zag!
50 75 150 200sprint 200jump sprint 200backwards sprint relay hippty hop 400 and so on.....smoke a bong and get 8 gold medals in track
Well, you could combine pole vaulting with diving...they have to clear the bar and then do a triple something or other into a pool for style points.
Boxing running. The do a round of boxing, run a lap and repeat . Fastest running time wins.Of course if they would add the beer mile to the Millrose games, I am sure the ratings would go through the roof. Having to drink every lap would make it a real endurance race.

would you have to wear goggles with speedo and spikes on?
BEER MILES!!! Better yet, beer pole vaulting and beer triple jumping.
Why not throw a steeple pit in the new indoor tracks being built and start including a steeplechase race in indoors? It could be brutal but thats what the steeplechase is.
How about a 12 and/or 24-hour track race?
Add a medley relay....1 lap, 2 laps, 3 laps and 4 laps (or 2-4-6-8, depending on the track), but you can run it in any order. Teams would have to declare their order on paper before showing up to the starting line. Do you sprint first, get a lead and hang on, or run the sprints last? It would add strategy to the meet and make it a little more interesting.
run the races clockwise for a change.
Here's a somewhat serious suggestion: How about a 4 X 800?
I think the 4 X 8 is far more exciting than the DMR, which is almost always just a glorified mile race at that level. A 4 X 800 on the other hand can break open at any point. With each leg being of equal distance a lot of strategy comes into play to as far as where to position the team's stud.
I just think track in general needs more relays in the championships, indoors, outdoors, and olympics. It's such an easy way to increase the popularity of the sport. Sure most people don't really care about random NCAA distance runners, but everybody cares about Texas vs. Oregon vs. Michigan (etc.) Plus how great would USA vs. Kenya vs. Ethiopia in a DMR at the Olympics be??? Sure adding a DMR or a 4 X 800 would be messing with long-established tradition, but compared to some of the other ideas to increase track's popularity it isn't that radical....
Indoor track needs fewer events.
Bring back the javelin and skeet shooting.
I'd like to see some new distances such as 348y, 966y, 27.5y dash. How often do you get a chance to PR at 348 yards?
For field events you could really have some fun. Instead of shutput seeing how far you can throw, how about increasing the weight and working your way up like PV and seeing who can clear 40 feet with the heaviest throw?
Synchronized high jump? Synchro triple jump? Pole vault?
How about alternating direction relays? 1st 400 goes clockwise, second leg goes counter...any maybe start some teams in one direction and some in the other (no clotheslining allowed).
Indoor javelin for accuracy? (vertical target)
Combined track and field events relays...a 800 with a long jump at the end. Each foot gets you a second off your time.
You know, if you designed a javelin, by weighting the tip or whatever, in which the world record would be more like 85 feet, there's no reason you COULDN'T have a javelin throw for accuracy.
I liked that pole vault/diving idea. A better water event than the steeplechase, anyway.
They are doing a 400m hurdles race in London (and apparently have run a few in France). Two hurdles on each straightaway. First lap (200m) you run in lanes. Last lap you can break for the pole. Hope there is video somewhere.
