An online running magazine (I won't mention which one, because of all the troubled past) pointed out today a very interesting fact about last Friday's Monaco meeting (I will summarize, since I dare not cut and paste illegally)......
Joseph Mahmoud's (France) European Record was taking down by little known Simon Vroeman (no relation to Abe Vroeman, the Sausage King of New York). Without trying to sound too racist, this new time establishes a sort of unofficial "white man/anglo" record for the steeplechase event (also noting, I believe that Mahmoud is of Morrocan descent). Vroeman's time of 8:06.91 was well below his 2001 mark of about 8:20......
Again, I am aware that Morrocan's claim a right to the origin of anglo civilization. Therefore, in theory, Boulami has this overall record. However, speaking in terms of the sport of track and field, they have always been seen as being of "African ability".........
Just all that better of a time to go after, eh Slattery?? :)
Cheers,
Coach Davis
p.s. I will have some Lap2Go T-shirts by the end of the week. If you want to purchase one, email me through the site. Thanks!
Interesting note from Monaco

Too bad records are distinguished that way.
At the least the 800m, 5k, 10k, are "eurafrikan". Soon the 1000m, steeple and others will follow. Thats just the same as the sprints being "eurocarribean". -
Whats your point? If this is such a big deal then maybe we should just have different races for different races, if you get my point. Isn't this like concedeing the distance events to the Africans and thus suggesting that Caucasians should be held to another standard...kinda like Americans only races on the roads..hmmm, Bix 7 anyone?

Amen for Bix, with the africans running back to their tribes with american sponsor dollars I have no problem with a little cash being tossed our way once in a while. It doesnt happen everyday and we do have to eat and pay the rent you know. A lack of foreign competition wont make us better but it will make us richer and in terms of being able to train and pay bills its not such a bad thing if we ever want to be able to compete with the africans over the long run.

Any more tips for upcoming races?

I see the significance in pointing this out. I think there is no question that the sport of running (all distances) is the sport with the biggest racial genetic influence. Is there one single world running record left held by an athlete of non-African origin (of course someone is going to say everyone originated from Africa)? Certain traits of physical athletic talent can show up stronger in all the races and the Africans corner the market in running. Its OBVIOUS! Seeing a fast time by a non-African can be seen as an encouraging sign for the other non-Africans and therefore derserves mention.
