I am sick of these "everyone in track does drugs" threads. Yes it is a problem, but to keep on saying this person is doing drugs because this person runs sub whatever in the whatever or this person is guilty because his grand momma is a pusher....ahhhhhhhh driving me insane.....

I've got the article at home, I'll post excerpts later. Anyone remember the SI article a few years back (maybe before '96 games) about drugs and sport? The findings in the article would lead you to believe a good 2/3 of the top athletes in sports ranging from track and field to football to archery are on something. Remember, there are many many many more drugs out there besides EPO that will help distance runners and track athletes in general. Steroids is still numero uno simply because it's easy to alter, mask, and get away with. Any college chemistry student could take a steroid, alter it's chemical structure and create an entirely different steroid. I remember hearing somewhere, maybe in the article, that if you're on steroids and get it caught in your system then you are stupid and careless because it's so easy to get away with.

Timo, the only person you KNOW doesn't do drugs is you (unless you do them). EVERYONE has bent rules, sacrificed integrity in some way, or otherwise compromised morality in order to gain some perceived advantage.

Of course I hope guys like BK are clean, and it saddens me that because several people have cheated all good marks fall into some degree of suspicion. I would obviously advise/implore people not to cheat, but I can only really control myself (and only really know about myself). Most of the time I choose to believe that people's achievements are legit, because I don't enjoy being cynical.

However, if people cheat, it would be to their own detriment. How hollow would an accomplishment be if you had to cheat to do it? Sure, I suppose you could feel that you pulled one over on people, but you can never pull one over on yourself. You would always know that you couldn't hack it yourself, so you cheated to steal someone else's place. In your mind, your accomplishment would always have an asterisk. It would be shameful and difficult to make right.

How deep does the list (of 'top' 5k) go? ... 25% of 'top' what?. The more your 'n' is, the less your % ... or so it would seem.

The last clean runeners wre Mallye, Pre and Bob Hodgie. The resut of them fukkers are direty.
