runlongggg, when you use a heart rate monitor in races, do you slow drastically on uphills (to keep your heart rate at your target heart rate), or do you slow just a little bit on uphills (letting your heart rate go up a little bit higher than your target heart rate but not out of control)? also, sometimes i have found it is difficult to keep your heart rate at a pre-set level on downhills without flying -- do you let loose on downhills to try to keep your heart rate up at 170?
