Aish ran 2:19:12.
Aish ran 2:19:12.
Does he know how to score a cross country meet yet or is Div II math not yet that advanced?
9 in front of 5
7 vs. 7
What were the score if you added up 7 vs 7
Sorry, What was.
Only 5 from each side score. It's elementary, rube.
the point is that the arrogant banned poster known as "knower" was right about aish running 2:19, and we were all wrong. i'll admit that i was wrong, but i'm sure that all those others who slammed him for calling 2:19 won't. slam away and then run and hide. that's what this site is all about.
Serious question. What are the admission requirements to Western State? I read with amusement the Western/Colorado thread. It seems that the kids at Western don't know how cross-country meets are scored. Even when the NCAA rules were posted (which should have been unnecessary), they just didn't get it. I then went to Western State's website and sure enough the headline of the Rocky Mountain Shootout read, "Western State Men Score Big upset at Rocky Mtn. Shootout"
http://www.western.edu/ath/teams/mxcountry/index-men.html
Can anyone explain to me how Western State's coach got his job? He sure as hell doesn't know a damn thing about cross country scoring. Shamelessly claiming victory over the Buffs? Do you really want to be known that way?
My guess is that their motto "Making Champions out of thin air" has many different interpretations.
Hey Malmo
If you look at the High School times of most of the top 15 runners at Western you will see that Coach V knows how to get the best out of his kids. Western kids pay for their own shoes, travel 4 to a room, and pay to fly to most meets.
I bet that Wetmore wishes he would have looked down the street in his own state and recruited some of the guys who beat his guys. CU sure could sure use some of Westerns runners come Nationals.
If you sat with Coach V for a while before you talk about him you would come away with a whole new perspective. The sport need more coaches like him.
If there are any parents out there who want to talk about Western, I'll give them the straight story. You couldn't be sending your kids to any better place.
His motto for his athletes is,
Good person, good student, good athlete.

You could put 1,657,984,360,127,984,765 runners in front of another team's 5 man, but only 5 would count.
Sorry, it's just the rules dude.
Master Wetmore not recruit, him not need to. Wetmore take only those that want come to him, not beg or coerce, and turn them into many fine warrior. Wetmore record speak for itself.
Ok Steve,I agree Coach V is a great guy and Western has a great team. But what't the deal with Western claiming a "victory" over CU on the website. This obviously isn't true...I hate to say it but it makes Western look a little bit like sore losers. I know the Sports Info. people don't have a clue most of the time, especially with sports such as xc and track, but some how this seems like the Western team is somehow behind this.

It's not often someone can speak for me. You, SJM, did well.
You Western kids, I have no doubt your coach is helping you run faster, but insisting on a victory that wasn't is bush-league. Perpetuating the big lie does not make one "a good person", does it?
Like I said Malmo, call Coach V and ask him the story.
Why is a thread devoted to that nobody-chump Aish?????
Why don't you leave your name??
Don't you know where you are? Look around, lad.
I recall there being a controversy brought up in said thread concerning wetmore's claiming that western was extremely race-ready due to their having already raced a full squad in 6 races (this was supposedly said before the race). I don't know if this was a misquote or not, but if wetmore actually said this then he is just as guilty of distorting the facts to create a more favorable self-image as the western coach. After all, western had hardly been racing their top guys any more than CU before rocky mountain.
He spoketh the truth. Nothing about WSC running their full squad in 6 races."They (Western State) have been killing everybody all season," said Wetmore. "They are very deep and are entering their sixth race of season; we are in our first. Both races should be very close and exciting."
